Alumni: What Would You Like To See More Of On the Website?

Esteemed alumni of Phi Omega Sigma,

This website is primarily for you. We want to keep ya’ll abreast of what we’re doing and reminisce about times past. We realize that content has been lacking recently, and that will be rectified. However, pouring more time into a website that doesn’t deliver exactly what the target audience wants to read is pointless, and our alumni are the target audience of this website. So tell us what you like, what you don’t, and what would make you check this website so much it becomes your homepage.

What do you want to see more of on here? Party recaps? A forum? Pictures from parties? ridiculous stories? updates about what other alumni are doing? You tell us. Currently, the vision we aim for is a balance recaps of events, updates about what actives are doing with their lives, features on alums, and random little posts of music and whatever else that take only a few minutes and make it seem like there’s more content on the website.

Also, if you want to be up to date on the happenings of the organization so much that you’d be happy to have you inbox filled with emails, send us your email and we’d be glad to add you to our gmail listserv.

Bros, I’d like to apologize for the distinct lack of content recently. However, I’ll do my best to keep the site steadily updated and try to get some these other bums to pitch in.

In the meantime, I’d like to ask our alumni to help us out. As many of you know, we are currently without an off campus house. We are living it up with Kieffer House on College Ave, but seeing as this is a college-owned house, there are many restrictions to our lifestyle that coincide with the house. Moreover, we’ve recently been placed under double secret probation by the administration, so it will be a decidedly less awesome house this semester and next.

I hope that you distinguished gentlemen can symphathize with our plight in this regard and could see it in your hearts to make a donation to the organization.We have been seeking off-campus housing, but currently have found nothing within reasonable distance that is for rent. However, there are several houses for sale and several forclosed houses that are worth looking into with increased funds. Needless to say, the actual purchase of a house would require some serious capital, but would be an incredible asset to the organization, which would yield immeasurable benefits for years to come. If that is a pursuit that you would like to help us with, we would greatly appreciate it. Undoubtedly, being the scholars you all are, you have been saving for a time such as this.

Who knows, maybe you could even get a room, or an entire house, named after you. Other rewards to be considered include pledges writing poems for your girlfriend, naming pledges, picking themes for parties, and guest pledging appearances in the basement via Skype calls hooked up to the speakers.

I’d like to clarify, though, that this is not only a request for donations towards a new house. We have long been considering putting this together, and I personally envision a fund that could be used for a variety of long-term measures to support the fraternity, ranging from a dues scholarship for bros that are strapped for cash to funding for brother’s outings. At the moment though, our primary need is a house. We appreciate whatever you esteemed gentlemen bestow upon us and welcome you to specify the purpose of your donation, should you like to do so.

Active of the Month: Andrew Valeriane

For the second Active of the Month, I decided I’d feature Andy Val. His contributions to the fraternity are countless, so this was a pretty easy choice. Andy’s a guy who likes to make things happen, and he’s always working on a few different projects, this website being one of the most recent ones. He designed and maintains this website, organized the paintball outing, set up the paint party (which unfortunately ended up being postponed until a time TBD), set up our sound system at the house and for any show we’ve put on, acquired and set up all our LED lights, so on and so on. Not to mention he was key player in this year’s repeat flag football championship. Needless to say, nobody here would claim that he doesn’t deserve a bit of recognition after everything he’s done and continues to do for us.

Now for a few words from the man himself.

Q: What’s your favorite drink?

A: Four Horsemen, but if it was just a night to myself where im just needing a nightcap Johnny Walker or Chivas.

Q: Very nice. Could you describe your dream party?

A: My dream party would have to be the paint party we were about to have. Hau5 music, covering women in fluorescent paint while I’m out of my mind. Or a foam party.

Q: Sounds like we’ll have to make one of those happen. If you could only listen to 4 albums for the rest of your life, what would they be?

A: Oh man that’s tough. Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers, one of the Lil’ Wayne Carter albums probably 2 or 3, 4×4=12 by Deadmau5, and The White Album by The Beatles.

Q: If you could party with anybody, dead or alive, who would it be and what would you do?

A: I know it sounds cliche, but alive would have to be charlie sheen. That guy obviously knew how to fucking party.

Q: What would be your dream job?

A: Owning my own business, just haven’t decided what it would be yet.

Q: Just a couple more. You obviously care a lot about this fraternity, what does Omega mean to you, and where would you like to see it go in the future?

A: Omega is more than a fraternity to me, i devote many hours a week to seeing us become the most envied group on campus.The ladies love us and the men want to be us. But to me, it has always been more than a group of guys pooling money together to have sick parties. BURT are the four commandments that I’ve chosen to live my life by. I’ve always tried to lead by example. I’ve never felt the urge to run for a position in the fraternity because I’ve never needed a title to make a difference. From cleaning the house, to planning the party and brotherhood events, and I’ve hoped that some day someone else will rise to occasion.

I would like to officially form an Omega Alumni Association before I leave so that I can contribute to the great times I’ve had at college. I would like to see us officially form our fraternity around a philanthropy event each year and I couldn’t think of any better than the Akaa Project. I would eventually like to see us own our own house off campus with our Letters on the front of the house. If possible, when I am raking in the dough, I plan on buying one of these lots around the school and building one from scratch so that everyone can live at the house. I would like for our chapter to grow to about 40 members also.

Q: Awesome. Then my last question would be, ZP, serve or slam?

A: I love to serve if Rubes slams.

This one comes from an amazing album by N.A.S.A., which is a group of a DJ and a producer. They spent 7 years making this album, because they had the most insane wish list of guest features and refused to settle for anyone else. Even more, they only wanted to work with them in person, right there in the studio with them. Anyways, cool music. Awesome music video.

Paintballing

Paintball was one of the best ideas we’ve had; huge props to Andy Val for making that happen. We were all bummed about not being able to throw down for the follow up Paint Party sat night but Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s and then a day full of shooting each other was just the medicine we all needed to get it out of our system.

I knew the day was gonna be epic when I ripped my pants from ass crack to nut-sack before we even got to the place while humping the bar bell on Will’s car. Can’t beat Andre, OJ and some sliced strawberry at 11:30 on a Saturday morning haha. I’m strongly in favor of making that a yearly outing for this fraternity. Great way to get outside, run around, drink, and shoot the shit out of each other. These are the types of things that set us apart from other fraternities.

Some highlights from the event:
- Smoking cigs while shooting paintball guns
- Seniors dominated the underclassmen 4-0
- Underclassmen got rocked 0-4
- That’s how it should be
- Andy Val should have been the last man standing if that random twat waffle hadn’t pretended to be out and then come back in after Andy fired his remaining rounds into an obstacle
- One of the best Saturday’s I can remember

Alumni Weekend

Zards, my apologies as this post is long overdue. Niceties aside, we fucking raged alumni weekend. Met some great alumns from way back who taught us some rules from ZP that somehow fell by the wayside such as if you serve 4 faults in a row you have to drink half your beer..bloody brilliant. I want to throw up a four to Pete Kenworthy and his boys for coming to party with us. We loved meeting you guys and hope to see you again next year. Another nice little surprise was to see how many Zard/Peanut match ups there are, we love partyin’ with those girls and its cool knowing you guys did the same. We also had our most recent Zard alumns come kick it for the weekend. Shout out to Tony, Joe, Sulli, and Bmac you guys can’t come back enough haha. Graham we miss you bud hope you can make it out here sooner rather than later. Pat keep doin’ your thing in the Orient, the Zard Empire knows no borders. Russ – did you cure Alzheimer’s yet?

Some time has passed since the tragedy of the mansion’s death, and I think it’s about time we properly commemorate that wonderful pile of junk and mold. While the house could’ve fallen apart any day and all the black mold was horrible for our health, that house was ours. With all of the fire and desired literally directed at the wall, I’m fairly certain that the wall had to have absorbed some of it, and honestly that’s the only explanation I can think of for how it kept standing for as long as it did. I loved that piece of junk, because every hole in the wall and every broken step was a suttle reminder of all the good times had by zards within its walls. It was a symbol of the tradition we carried on. It was an affront to the school, inches from its campus yet so far apart from its ideals. Most of all, I loved the Zard Mansion because it was fun to party in.

So goodbye, 619. You will be missed. Now here’s what some mourning bros had to say about the Mansion:

619 treated us well. For myself, a large part of the reason I began to care so much about the house was that it was in such a torrid condition that, during its last year or so, it motivated the fraternity to be more proactive and take on more projects than I had yet seen in my time as an active. The success of those endeavors helped the brothers and myself realize that if we all put our heads together and rolled up our sleeves, we could make some amazing things happen other than just parties and miracle cram sessions around finals time. Sadly, the realization of this capability came to a peak right at the end of the Mansion’s life, shortly after we converted the downstairs into a bonified party palace on a near club-level status. It was depressing to have all our work destroyed, but I’m excited by what I see in this fraternity. Omega is still the same “wretched hive of scum and villainy” (in a good way). Yet, now we’re a wretched hive of scum and villainy that has built one Deathstar only to have it destroyed, and now we are even more determined to build a new one, bigger and better.

well, todays friday, and tonight we’ll be having an epic Broz Night featuring our 1st Biannual Brolympics. I’ll try to get some photos of the night and tell y’all about the chaos. So in the spirit of celebration and recovery, here’s few tunes I’ve been playing lately and some fours.

Tonight’s event will be started off with the opening ceremonies, which will consist of this song and a bottle of Andre.
